SIBERIAN REFUGEES
New York—Destitute Jewish refu-
gees, many of whom were trans-
ported by the authorities and many
who fled into Siberia to escape the
horrors of Russia, and thousands of
Jewish war prisoners have been aided
by funds contributed by the Jews of
the United States, according to a
cabled report which the Joint Distri-
bution Committee has just received
from Dr. Frank Rosenblatt, Siberian
Representative. The report states
that 1,347,511 roubles have been ex-
pended for Siberian relief in October.
The largest expenditure was that of
537,000 rubles for underwear and
other clothing with which to protect
the refugees for the winter. Dr.
Rosenblatt has enlisted the co-opera-
tion of the National Jewish Council
Corporation, the Siberian Commis-
sion of the American Red Cross and
the Y. M. C. A. for the rapid distri-
bution of clothing among the suf-
ferers.

ROUMANIA'S JEWISH
POLICY IN DOUBT
LONDON.—Roumania has agreed
to sign the peace treaty with Austria,
but only after she had managed to se-
cure the approval by the Peace Con-
ference of her suggestion that she he
allowed to modify the clause con-
cerning the rights of minorities. How
far this will effect the Jews of Rou-
mania is not yet known.

WARSAW.—Mr. Hershfield has
conferred with representatives of the
Polish Government and with the Am-
erican Minister and Consul with ref-
erence to immigration to this coun-
try of relatives of American citizens,
and the Minister and Consul promis-
ed to inquire about transport facili-
ties that may be available for this pur-
pose when immigration becomes pos-
sible. At the present time, however,
immigration from Poland to America
is impossible and the fact should be
made known as widely as possible.
Many tragedies are being caused by
the unfounded belief that families can
conic to America; they sell their be-
longings, come to Warsaw in the be-
lief that they can secure passports for
I America, and there, in Warsaw, help-
less, without shelter or resources, they
are stranded.
