CHAIM BIALIk,
GREATEST HEBREW
POET, IS DEAD

Chaim Nachman Bialik, the great-
est Hebrew poet of our time, is dead
in Odessa, Russia, at the age of forty-
six.
Not since the days of Rabbi Ye-
huda Halevi did a Hebrew poet give
such powerful poetic expression to the

sufferings of his people as did Bialik. I Hebrew poet deriving his inspirations

pacity he rendered yeoman services
to his people.

In Bialik modern Hebrew literature

has reached its zenith and his sudden
death at such an early age is cer-
tainly a disaster to modern Hebrew
literature and an irreparable loss to
the Jewish people.
The Jews the world over mourn
the loss of Chaim Nachman Bialik.-
