NO. 13

DETROIT, MICHIGAN, NOVEMBER, 1 919.

—For the second successive month this official page of the UNITED
JEWISH CHARITIES is devoted to the purposes of the Detroit Patriotic Fund. Read it
carefully. It presents in unmistakable terms the necessity for co-operation on the part of

EDITOR'S NOTE :

the local Jewish community.

As Jews
Let Us
"Give More than Our Share"

Two years ago, before the Patriotic Fund
was born, we Jews raised almost three hundred
thousand dollars in Detroit, for the Jewish Suf-
ferers from the war.
Our generosity was hailed throughout
America.
We had lived up to the slogan of our cam-
paign. We had given MORE than our share!

And now, again, the Patriotic Fund is put-
ting on a great drive. The sum asked or is half
of that raised last year!

But
THE DISTINCTLY JEWISH (CAUSES
ARE TO BE GIVEN FIFTY PER CENT
MORE THAN LAST YEAR!
Think what this means! Now as never
before, we must "give MORE than or share!"

iii

As Jews we were proud of what we had
done! We had learned to give! And we proved
it anew when the war-time calls came to us.
In addition to our subscriptions for our own
people we gave liberally to the Y. M. C. A.,
K. of C., Red Cross, and every other patriotic
project.
We did not mind that we were doubly
taxed.
We were glad to "give MORE than our
share."

it;

And then, last year, came the Patriotic
Fund! We welcomed it! We worked for it!
We gave to it! Instead of raising seven million
dollars, Detroit, with customary generosity,
raised half as much again!
We rejoiced at the achievement!
We were proud of the part we had played!
We were thankful that precious lives would
be saved!
We had given MORE than our glare!

The big drive starts Novemb Third and
lasts for five days.
As Jews we have a particular 'iterest in its
