B'NAI BRITH TO OFFER
SERIES OF LECTURES

A series of five lectures by some of
the most eminent speakers in the coun-
try will be given under the auspices of
Pisgah Lodge, Independent Order of
B'nai Brith, to be called the 11'nai Brith
Lecture Course.
The course has been arranged through
the efforts of the Intellectual Advanc.!-
ment Committee, of which Rabbi Sam-
uel S. Mayerberg is chairman, in an at-
tempt to bring to Detroit Jewry figures
of national Jewish importance.

ber 30; Rabbi Nathan brass of Phila-

The lectures will probably be given
at Temple Beth El. Further detailed an-
nouncements will appear in these col-
umns in a later issue.

KNIGHTS OF PYTHIAS
GIVE SECOND DANCE

The Detroit Lodge No. 55, Knights
of l'ythias, will give the second of
their series of dance-entertainments.
Sunday evening, November 2, at the
Castle Hall, 533 Cass avenue.
Some very interesting features have
been arranged by the entertainment
committee in charge of Nathan Ro-
senberg. Eddie McGrath, Detroit's
popular lyric tenor, and Dick Whit-
ing. of the Jerome Remick Comrany.
will sing some of their newest suc-
cesses. Wilford Goldman and Sam-
uel Mandell will compete for honors
in an unusual program of entertain-
ment. Fiuzel's orchestra has been
engaged to furnish the music.
The next in the series of dance-
entertainments will be given Sunday
night, November 16. Some of the
finest musical talent in the city will
appear at these dances. Detailed an-
nouncement of later programs will
appear in these columns from time to
time.

Study Classes.
Rabbi A. M. Hershman is planning
organize
several study groups this

winter. Those who are interested in
the study of the Bible. in Hebrew, in
social problems. or in other related
courses, are requested to meet Rabbi
Hershman at g o'clock, Tuesday even-
ing. Noventber 4, at the synagogue
Classes in the subjects requested will
be formed to be conducted on days
and at hours convenient to the great-
est number of applicants.
Sabbath School.
Children of the Shaarey Zedek Sab-
bath School have begun to rehearse
for a Channuka play and pageant to
be given the early part of December.

Wolf Posnanski, a Colorado pio-
neer. died recently at the advanced
age of 84 years. Mr. Posnanski came
to Denver in 1860, crossing the plains
in ox carts and living in the state con-
tinuously since that time.
