PLANS BIG OUTING

T

HE current furniture expositions
at Chicago and Grand Rapids in-
dicate still further price increases in
high-quality furniture.

Wednesday, July 16, will be a gala
day for members of Perfection
Lodge, No. 486, F. & A. N1,, their
families and friends. Plans are un-
der way for a big, all-day outing to
Sugar Island on that day. With
their usual thoroughness the Enter-
tainment Committee of the Lodge is
arranging a series of events for the
day that will leave nothing to be
desired.
One of the most important features
will be a baseball game between the
Knights of Pythias No, 55 and Per-
fection Lodge. Other games and
races for which valuable prizes will
he given have been arranged. There
will be continuous dancing on the
boat and at the Park to the music of
Finzel's tuneful orchestra. Several
operatic numbers for the pleasure of
the grown-ups will be rendered on
the boat trip. The boat will leave at
the foot of Griswold at 8:30 A. Nf.

This fact suggests the wisdom of
buying now while the old pricings
remain in effect.

to stimulate an exchange of commod-

There are countless manufactured
commodities that Palestine is in ur-
gent need of and that America can
supply. Cotton gods. agricultural
machinery, gasoline engines and mu-
sical instruments will find a ready
market as soon as the wave of set-
tlem•nt begins to augment.
The very life of Palestine is im-
port and export. Palestinian fruits
and wines are famous all over the
world. In exchange for these goods
there must be imported the manufac-
tures that the colonists need and as
yet have no facilities to produce.
It is hard. therefore, to measure
the significance of this new steam-
ship line. Its inaugurators are men
of large affairs and sure judgment.
That they have definitely announced
the new service before peace is of-
ficially proclaimed is a tribute to
their enterprise. and also an indi-
cation of what business men expect
to come i.at if Palestine under Brit-
ish rule.
