He trained with the Royal Flying Corps in Canada, then in Texas, and later at Salisbury Plain, England. He was sent to the Aero School at Tern- berry, Scotland, where he became aero acrobatic instructor. For some time he was attached to the Central Dis- vatch Pool, whose business it was to fly new machines across the channel to France. Tolchan made this his- toric trip many times in the remark- able time of 25 minutes. Lieut. Tolchan is a graduate of the Engineering Dept. of the Michigan Agricultural College, class of 1914.
