JEWISH COMMUNITY IN
SMOLENSK PROSPERS
Coal at Your Call
At Prices that Beat All - - -
Reports reaching here from Smolensk,
Russia, declare that that city has the
most efficient and prosperous Jewish
community of the entire country. The
Jewish Kehillah of Smolensk is so well
established that it is being regarded as
a sort of state, and thus finds it easy to
make loans. Its most recent loan
amounted to 300,000 rubels.
All the members of the Smolensk
Kehillah regularly pay their voluntary
tax. Because of its regular and large
income, the Kehillah is able to give much
support to all the Jewish public institu-
tions of Smolensk.
