The Jewish Kehillah of Smolensk is so well established that it is being regarded as a sort of state, and thus finds it easy to make loans. Its most recent loan amounted to 300,000 rube's. All the members of the Smolensk Kehillah regularly pay their voluntary tax. Because of its regular and large income, the Kehillah is able to give much support to all the Jewish public institu- tions of Smolensk. 1 Washington says— YOUNG ZIONISTS WANTED TO BUILD PALESTINE Young men, Zionists, technically inclined, able-bodied, anxious to go to Palestine, will find an opportunity to become expert in the handling of tractors, by applying to the Zionist Society of Engineers and Agricultur- ists, who have undertaken to train young men for this purpose. The so- ciety, at the present time, is unable to offer positions, but it is their opin- ion when the country is opened up, there will be immediate need for such experts. Arrangements are being made with several of the agricultural schools whereby these men will get a thor- ough training in the tractor work and also in practical agricultural methods practiced in this country. The period of instruction will be between two and three months, the instruction as well as other expenses incurred will be free of charge. Applicants are to present them- selves in person to the Zionist Society of Engineers and Agriculturists, 122 York. Coal at Your Call At Prices that Beat All - - 2207 W.
