When it is considered that the show is of but one week's duration,
whereas any other business developes gradually throughout a number
of years, it will be seen that the producing of an automobile show is
really in a class by itself, and it takes and demands an endless amount
of work and attention in order to bring about an effect in two months'
time which ordinarily would take years to attain.

When the War Industry Board called off the ban on automobile
production last November the thirty-two members of the Detroit Auto
Dealers' Association immediately got together and voted unanimously
in favor of holding a show this spring.

In order to incorporate in this show all of the latest developments
in the automotive industry it was decided to hold it the first of March
instead of the latter part of January, as has been the case in the past.

The manufacturers were unable to present their new products at
an earlier date and that the dealers were right 4p'Clioasing March as the
month for the exhibition is demonstrated conclusively in the character
of the present show.

This is the eighteenth annual motor car exhibition which has been
held in Detroit, and for the last six years the dealers have been handi-
capped to a great extent by the lack of a suitable building in which to
stage the event.

When the motor car industry was young and there were but few
models to be shown it was not kat buildin which

cars as well as a vast amount of room for the exhibition of accessories.

In order to present the show this year it was necessary to secure
the co-operation of four hundred motor car owners and get their con-
sent to remove their cars from the garage building for a period of two
weeks so that the show might have a home which would be in keeping
with the prominence of Detroit as the center of the motor industry.
That this end was accomplished without a particle of difficulty proves
conclusively that motor car owners are interested in the annual auto-
mobile show and they realize what an important part the show plays
in our civic life.

The fact that there has been more interest in automobile shows in
every large city throughout the United States this year than ever in the

Light and Moderately Priced with Costly Car Qualities

--De- scribe the Essex

Thos who have seen and ridden in the
Essex derstand why everyone is so enthu-
siastic ver it.

The e has been a veritable burst of approval
for th Essex from motorists who have here-
tofore confined their interest to one or the
other of the two general types of cars.

dist nguishes many large and costly cars.

The In-Between Car

he Essex, as everyone recognizes, corn-
bin s many of the wanted qualities of both
the cheap light car and also of the large
co ly car.
t is light, yet as comfortable and easy
rid ng as the large heavy car. It

er ion, hill climbing and speed

ar capable of showing.
he Essex is moderately
pr ed, but it is rich in detail of
be uty and finish. It awakens
th pride of ownership.

Have You Not Noticed It?

We have attempted no description of the
Essex. We have said it would speak for itself
and so it has. People are talking about it. In
their descriptions they make comparisons.
They say it is light in weight like such and
such a car, referring to cars of similar weight
and price.
But when they speak of Essex performance
or of its appearance, comparisons are made to
larger and costlier cars. They say it is speedier
than this one, and that it rides as easy as
another, and that it pulls the hills like ,
and stands up like , always mentioning
cars that are distinguished in such particulars
and which cost a great deal pore to buy and
to operate.

Only One Out of Three To Get Them

Present indications point to three buyers
for each Essex that will be built this year.
Ask those who have seen and ridden in the
Essex and you will realize how strongly it
is esteemed. Orders are being
booked faster than cars can be
built though factory production
grows greater every day.
Maybe you will be one of the
fortunate to get an Essex.
Delay will place you with the
thousands who will not be able
to get an Essex this year.
The question will be decided by
your promptness.
