L. J. LEOPOLD
The !Vital Brith Club, which has had so potent a share in the
rejuvenation of the Intai Brith Order in Detroit, was the brilliant
suggestion of L. J. Leopold. He had the vision to see that the mem-
bers of B'nai Brith could work together in a new field, and also the
devotion to the general good to induce him to give precious time and
invaluable effort to making this a success. He is a man of a sound
and loyal Jewish heart, whose suggestions are followed because they
are loyal and disinterested. He is a Director of the B' n ai Brith Club.
CLERGYMAN AND CITIZEN
RABBI LEO M . FRANKLIN
—
,(That Dr, Eeo M. Franklin has meant to Detroit and to Temple
Beth El has been shown recently in the civic celebration of hazy
twentieth anniversary in that pastoral charge. This was by far the
most extraordinary demonstration by the public in honor of any
citizen not in official life. The tributes brought him from men of all
faiths were tributes full of respect for his position as a distinctly
Jewish minister, mingled with recognitions of his general citizenship.
His service here has also 5/10701 that he includes the Independent
Order of B'nai Brith within the broad range of his interests. He
conducted special services on the morning before the Great Initiation
in Pisgah Lodge. He has shown Ow deepest interest in the pros-
perity of the Order in the Past, and the deepest faith in its future.
His own career in Detroit, which has brought him so much in honor
and appreciation, is really a demmistration of those noble principles
of Judaism which are the special policies of the It'nui Brith Order.

The youthful president of Pisgah Lodge, Morris Garrett, has
brought to his task all the enthusiasm of a young m a n with the
serious maturity of a man of greater years. His own personal suc-

which are showing themselves in the service he is giving to Pisgah
Lodge and to the B'nai Itrith club. The President has had a striking
part in all the recent successes of the Lodge and the Club, and is a
fitting leader in the mend ambitions of both organizations.
