ST. LOUIS
KANSAS CITY

An audience that taxed the capacity
of Temple Beth El to overflowing
greeted Major Louis J. Hirschman
last Sunday evening.
Rarely has a speaker left his hear-
ers with a keener sense of satisfac•
lion and a feeling that the evening
had been truly well spent.
Of pleasing personality," Major
Hirschman was thoroughly at Mune
with his audience, everyone present
feeling in him a personal interest.
Unlike many who have been in the
war zone, he sought to bring !pack the
brighter rather than the horrifying
side of the war.
his talk was chiefly of that topic in
which each and every one present was
most intensely interested -the boys.
Major Hirschman told of the wonder-
ful care that our boys have received.

talk was interrupted with applause.
Perhaps the audience found him so
admirable because he spoke so in-
formally and without even the least
affectation.
A reception to Maj. and Mrs.
Hirschman concluded one of the most i A
successful evening entertainments in
the annals of the Jewish Woman's
Club, under whose auspices it was
--
held.
Ott Monday afternoon the club held
the second of a series of meetings, at
which Mine. Annetta Antona dis- ,
cussed current topics. Mine. Antona
is a brilliant woman and a delightful
speaker. She adds much to the pleas-
ure of these meetings by ;inswering
questions which the members of the 0.
club ask, and permitting them to in-
dulge in a general discussion.
An added feature of the NIonday
meeting was the personal impression I
of Lincoln told in charming manner
by Mrs. Yorke, wife of Mr. (Ms Yorke
of the "Business Before Pleasure"
company playing at the Garrick thea- •
ter.
Next Monday afternoon Mine. An- 1
tona will define and discuss the terms,
"Anarchism," "Socialism," and "Itol-
SileVISIII. " 'nine are terms that are
much abused, confused and misunder-
stood. Everyone should want to take
advantage of the opportunity to have
them elucidated by one who knows
her subject.
On Sunday afternoon, December I,
at Temple Beth El, the Jewish Wont-
an's Club will present Miss Theresa
h. Haley, head of the Women's Divi-
sion of the Federal Employment Serv-
ice.
Miss Haley, who came from Boos-
ton, is a young woman of charm as
well as efficiency.
She will tell "l low Industrial Wom-
en Workers are Playing Their fart in
the U. S. to Help in the Reconstruc- i
tion Work of the War." This is a
subject in which all W011101 will be
Fl
greatly interested and discussed by
one who is so familiar with it, should

prove a real drawing card. Hiss
Haley deserves to be greeted by a
large attendance.
The musical program for the after-
noon will consist of a trio composed
of Miss Sadye Jacobson, violinist,
Miss Margaret Grattan, 'cellist and
Miss Sara Weinberg, pianiste.

Paderewski lost in Chopin's
Military Polonaise

:".

•

When Paderewski plays this
mighty call to arms the spirit of
his fellow-Pole, the poet-composer
Chopin, revisits the earth. IPade-
rewski has dedicated his life to
the sacred cause of freedom.

Only one pianoforte is cap-
able of the alternate bursts of pow-
er and tenderness called for by the
works of the greatest composers.
That !pianoforte, as all the world
knows, it the Steinway.

STEINWAY PIANO

The

Viewed as an investment, too, the Steinway is in a
class by itself. Its wearing qualities are unequalled. Af-
ter bringing exquisite delight for a generation its match-
less beauty of tone is still unchanged. Not only does
the whole world accord to the Steinway a position of ab-
solute supremacy; not only does it provide the greatest
possible degree of pleasure and satisfaction that can be

realized through piano ownership—but, it is, as well,
considered from the standpoint of durability, the most
economical piano you can buy.
We accept other instruments in exchange—and sell
on divided payment plan if desired. We invite your in-
spection of our great Christmas stock. You do not
obligate yourself in the least through a visit.

Select a Steinway Piano as Your Christmas Home•Gift. No Other Remembrance of Such
Richness and Charm—No Other So Truly the Embodiment of the Christmas Spirit!
