TEMPLE Y. P. S. GIVE
SECOND WELFARE DANCE

The members of the Young People's
Society of the Temple Beth El acted
as hosts and hostesses at the second
weekly affair given under the aus-
pices of the Jewish Welfare Board at
the Hospitality House on Cass Ave-
nue, near Teterboro Street.
Finzel's orchestra provided the
music for dancing, which was in-
dulged in by numerous soldiers and
sailors from surrounding stations and
camps. Although the quarantine of
several nearby cantonments led those
in charge to believe the men in uni-
form would not be able, to attend in
any great numbers, this fear was un-
founded. The floor was crowded
with men in service. Between dances
the guests were treated to light re-
freshments. Several vocal selections
were rendered, including songs by
Miss Phyllis Zuckerman and one of
the guests in uniform, who, prior to
his service was a professional enter-
tainer.
The affair was tinder the direction
of Miss Dorothy Weinstein, vice-
lwesident, who was appointed as
chairman of the committee in charge,
and to her belongs great credit for
the success of the event.

After four years' absence from the
feature play lield—four years devoted
to the making of those world fatuous
super-pictures—"The Birth of a Na-
"Intolerance," and "Hearts of
the World," D. W. Griffith returns to
the theater audiences of America with
a lordly gift. He now presents the

war feature picture, a great war-time

He shows the splendid part woman
has played in the war, the depth and
devotion of her love as expressed by
arduous service.

CREATOR OF BLOUSE STYLES

While the colors for the street ens-
tunnel are dark, they are not at all
uninteresting, and the soft "off
shades are particularly lovely. Black,
navy blue, taupe and deep shades of
grey and tan and the new reds known
as Algerian. China and henna, are
noticeable tints in B. Siegel Co.'s col-
lection, in such materials as Duve-
tyne, ‘Vool Velour, Velveteen and
Broadcloth. These fabrics, many of
which are cominned with Satin, Serge
or Velvet, make charming models,
somewhat reminiscent of the modes
of fifteen or twenty years ago.
