BRITISH OFFICER
SAYS TURK MUST
YIELD PALESTINE

JAEFA.—Speaking at the first con-
ference of Jews of the liberated area
of Palestine held at Jaffa. Major the
lion. W. Ormsby-Gore. political of-
ficer attached to the Zionist Com•
in - stun in Palestine, said that if Eng-
land and her allies won this war the
future government of Palestine would
not be Turkish.
In this war England and her allies
were fighting not for the extension
of empire, nor for the acquisition of
future power, or future territory.
They were fighting that countries
• hoodol be governed in the interests
and according to the wishes and as-
pirations of the inhabitants of those
countries.
Ile commented on the splendid re-
:ponse of Jewish young men in Isles
tine who had joined their brethren
from other countries in fighting for
the liberation of Palestine. and he
said that this would have a great
mural value in history.
These men were the missionaries
of Jewish nationality in Palestine. lie
urged Jews to make sure that their
foundation stones were truly laid in
then agricultural. cultural and educa-
tional work in free Palestine .

Gen. March, Chief
of Staff, in a statment
last week, is quoted as
having said:

"We must comman-
deer, and have done so,
all the wool of the Uni-
ted States, and have
takenthe wool of Ar-
