For the past few seasons an Oriental in- fluence has been evident but the style details and trimmings are subordinat- ed to a general scheme which is also in keeping with the times. One unusual frock recently shown by R. Siegel was a model of taupe Crepe de Chine of a heavy, lustrous weave, embellished with embroidery of the same torte, threaded with dull silver. The embroidery forms the sailor collar, borders the wide sleeves at the wrist and fashions the yoke at the sides and back of the skirt. The gown is made with panel effect at the front, while the skirt at the side and back is attached to the yoke with fullness. Another stunning little model is made of satin and is without trim- ming, with the exception of material tucks and sash, and a large collar of lace. There is an inset panel of tucks running crosswise of • the material from the waist to the hem, and still another dress is shown, which is very simply made of soft, rose-colored crepe, trimmed with black ribbon, and large sailor collar of black Taffem. Waistcoats are very much in esi- deuce this season; in fact, no spring suit is quite all that it should be un- less accompanied by one of these smart accessories, and lovely new models are arriving daily at It. Siegel Cp.'s. Some of these waistcoats may not be seen at all unles the coat is unfastened, but other jackets are cut especially to reveal the waistcoat. The real reason of the waistcoat is to till the gaps where coat-fronts were skimped for conservation of worsted fabrics.
