1). S. U. has been appointed com-
mander of the Jewish Regiment that
is now being raised in London. He
succeeds Col. Patterson who has al-
ready left for Palestine with his bat-
talion.
Lieut Col. Samuel is a nephew of
Sir Marcus Samuel, former Lord
Mayor of London (1902-1903). Sir
Marcus Samuel is engaged in the
transportation of petroleum in bulk.
Ile was knighted in 1898, was sheriff
of London (1894-1895), and alderman
(1895-1902). Among the other offices
which he has held arc: Lord of the
Manor Mote, Deputy Lieutenant of
the City, and Justice of the Peace for
Kent.

The SVornan's Auxiliary Aisociation
of Temple Beth El is in need of more
workers. The Temple units for Red
Cross garments meet at the Temple
all day Tuesday and Friday and on
Thursday afternoon. The Surgical
Bandage classes meet at the Phoenix
Club on Monday evenings and
throughout the day on Thursdays.
The need grows greater every day
and every woman should make it her
duty to devote some time to this
urgent and necessary work. W'omen
who have had no previous experience
need feel no hesitancy on that ac-
count. There is something fur every-
one to do.

ADULT BIBLE CLASS.

The Adult Bible class of Temple
Beth El meets for the last time this
season on Thursday afternoon at 2:15

Professor Moritz Levy of the Uni-
versity of Michigan will be the speak-

Society of Temple Beth El on Wednes -
day evening May 1st 1918. The sub-
ject of Professor Levy's discourse
will be "The French Drama."
Professor Levy, by virtue of his
study of the drama for some twenty
years is well qualified to speak on
this subject and his address will sure-
ly be a most instructive and entertain-
ing one.
The public is cordially invited to at-
tend. This address will be given at
Temple Beth El, commencing at 8:00
p. m. sharp.
This meeting is one of a series of
meetings conducted by Mr. Louis
James Rosenberg on the Drama and
marks the culmination of a most suc-
cessful course of the Young People's
Society of Temple Beth El.

Leonard A. Tannenholz.
Leonard A. Tannenholz, who was
very well known in the city and asso-
ciated in the C. J. Bolton company
for 27 years, died last Monday from
the effects of pneumonia. The funeral
services were held from his late real-
dence, 316 Taylor avenue, Rabbi Leo
M. Franklin and Rabbi Samuel S. May.
erburg officiated. Internment was in
Woodinere cemetery.
Mr. Tannenholz was the son of Alex-
ander Tannenholz who was formerly
a very active figure In Detroit busi-
ness circles. Besides his parents and
widow, Mr. Tannenholz is survived by
his daughter, Ethel, a son, Marvin, one
brother, Benjamin, and four sisters,
Eva and Ella Tannenholz, Mrs. lingo
Lowenthal, and Mrs. M. Nathan.

NEW COLLEGE CLUB
