Josef Hofmann, the pianist whose concert on Jan. 24th at the Arm- ory will lie one of the bright features of our musical season, plays his entire recital programs without once leaving the platform. The Polish artist believes that the atmosphere and the interest of the audience in- variably suffer when a solo:st goes off the stage between groups of numbers, and he has established the unique custom of remaining at the piano throughout the entire program. Aside from the artistic merits of such an innovation, one cannot but be impressed by the great physical endurance of an artist who ignores a breathing spell during two hours of the most strenuous work under such nerve breaking conditions as the concert platform enforces. A very attractive series of concerts for the balance of the musical season is being offered by the Devoe-Detroit management, consisting of Josef Hofmann, the distinguished Polish pianist, Jan. 24; Jascha 116- fetz, the boy wizard of the violin, Feb. 21st; Mme. Arnelita Galli-Curci, the greatest singer in the world today, and Mme. Schumann-lleink, the beloved contralto, March 21st. The four concerts are offered at a low rate, and should attract even the most modest purse. 1 , 61S. buttons, Claming %void, khaki splendid musical program tea; pro- FURNISHED ROOM WANTED handkerchief, wash cloth, carloolated y i i , 1 h e N a th an Simons, t.oc a litd. ac- —A young business man desires a ointnu•ut, vine ointment, trench stir - cnmpau i e d by mk s Sylvia Simons. warm furnished room near Brush and roe. scissors.
