Soc iet y
Hadassah will hold its first
regular meeting of the coming
season on Tuesday evening, No-
vember 6, at 8 p. m., at the Shaa-
rey Zedek building. An unusu-
ally interesting program has
been prepared. All members are
urgently advised to attend. Oth-
er ladies who may be interested
in the purpose of the society are
also cordially invited.
A very charmingly beautiful
reception was held at the home of
Mrs. Eugene J. Hartman, of
Palmer avenue, east, on Tuesday
afternoon, October 30, in honor
of the birthday of her little niece,
Miss Dolores Silberkraus, of
Schenectady, N. Y., who is visit-
ing in Detroit with her aunt. The
invited young guests were enter-
tained with games and many fea-
tures symbolic of Hallowe'en. A
delightfully appointed birthday
luncheon was served. The table
was exquisitely decorated in deli-
cate colors in harmony with the
occasion. In the center was a
large birthday cake studded with
small candles representing the
anniversary years of the cele-
brant. Each little guest was pre-
sented with appropriate favors
that aroused great merriment.
The little ones present were : Ma-
rion Silberkraus, Leona Hart-
man, Cecelia Hartman, Jane Sel-
lins, Morton Cohen, Rosaline Co-
hen, Theodore Kaufman, Herbert
Kaufman.
"UNIONGRAM" NEWS.
The "Uniongram" is a national idea
and all Detroit ladies will gladly co-
operate. A book of four "Union-
grams" with stamped envelopes costs
but $1.00, and is most convenient to
have in your desk. If you have none,
telephone your message to the Tem-
ple or to any officer of the Woman's
Auxiliary and they will send it for
you anywhere for .25 cents. Send a
message to a sick friend or congratu-
lations for a birthday or for any other
occasion of greeting.
THE BEETHOVEN CLUB HOLDS
HALLOWE'EN PARTY.
Witches and ghosts danced and
made merry at the Hallowe'en party
given at the Alan Kopelson School
of Pianoforte for the junior pupils,
the members of the Beethoven Club.
The unique event was notable particu-
larly because it carried out the idea
of combining play with study for the
young students, which is very im-
portant in the field of piano training.
Upon the arrival at the studio, the
little guests were mysteriously ush-
ered into the "Land of Spooks." It
was an old fashioned, joyous party
with fancy costumes, games, prizes
and refreshments, and everything to,
gladden the hearts of the little folk.

ZIMBALIST AT THE ARMORY
THURSDAY EVENING, NOV. 2.
The announcement of the appearance
of Mr. Efrem Zimbalist, the brilliant
concert violinist, at the Detroit Armory
on Thursday evening, November 8th, is
hailed with delight by all music lovers in
Detroit. The young Russian genius
compelled the warmest admiration at his
American debut in New York in 1911,
and since that time he has continued to
mount in public esteem and to bear out
the rich promise of all critics. Higher
tributes have never been received by any
artist than those won by Zimbalist in
the season just past. "His playing is of
the highest quality in its penetration and
depth, its authority, as well as in the
wholly remarkable technical qualities,"
says a review in the New York Times.
