R C..P, A SHONEH'S CfeEDIT CIGAR The inauguration of meatless and wheatless days in this country is a sad commentary on our prevalent methods of food production and distribution. While it is the patriotic duty of every household and every individual to con- serve our present food supply, it never- theless is an inconvenience to sacrifice our use of any food. In spite of the unprecedented situation which we now face, it would have been possible to be producing even now all the food that we could possibly use. The fact that this is not so brings us forcibly to the realization of our lack of system and co-operation in the production and dis- tribution of the most vital elements of life sustenahce. If the war has taught us anything, it has taught us to face the food situation squarely. It has forced us, by the pres- sure of insufficient food supply, to re- construct our methods of raising and marketing food. The Food Administra- tion of the government is the first step in the campaign against waste and lack JEWISH CALENDAR The Gleaners' Clearing House Asso- ciation is selling the products of it members in many groceries in Detroit. The war has focused the attention of the public on its activities. It is therefore to the benefit of every citizen to know more of this humani- tarian movement.
