RECREATION BUILDING
"YOUR DOWN-TOWN CLUB"
Representing an Investment of More
Than a Million Dollars 'Now Open
With the opening of the NEW RECREATION BUILDING, the world's largest and most completely equipped Billiard and
Bowling Establishment, Detroit more firmly establishes her right to the slogan, "WHERE LIFE IS WORTH LIVING."
The New Recreation Building, with its 131 Billiard Tables and 116 Bowling Alleys, places at the disposal of Detroit and her
guests, an unusually attractive and healthful Down-Town Club.
It has always been and will continue to be the policy of the Sweeney-
Huston Company to prohibit the sale or the serving of liquor in any
building they operate. To create and to maintain still further an
atmosphere of good fellowship that is entirely wholesome, all gam-
bling of whatever kind will be rigidly excluded, and the general con-
duct of the establishment will be in conformity with the requirements
of ladies and gentlemen.
Another outstanding feature of the Recreation Building will be the
unusual service to be found on every floor. More than 200 trained
and courteous attendants will be on duty. Ten skilled mechanics
will see that the equipment is always up to the standard.
Billiard S
The Second and Third Floors
are devoted to Carom, English
and Pocket Billiards exclusive-
ly. 53 Carom tables on the second floor; 38 pocket bil-
Vard tables and 12 English billiard tables on the third

make. The second floor mezzanine balcony commands
an excellent view of the entire floor. It is devoted to a
Billiard Theatre, with a seating capacity for 300 people,
a comfortable, quiet lounging room and to the General
Offices. This department is in charge of:
William S. Sweeney, Carom Billiards
Joseph Moll, Pocket Billiards.
Bert Kortlang, English Billiards.
Bowling
The Fourth, Fifth, Sixth and
Seventh Floors are devoted entirely
to Bowling. Twenty-two regulation
Brunswick-Balke-Collender Alleys on each floor. The
Fourth Floor is reserved entirely for ladies. The at-
tendants on this floor are women, The Fifth and Sixth
Floors are reserved for League Bowling during specified
hours. Floor Seven is always held open for the general
public. On this floor there is seating accommodations
for 200 spectators. Unusual arrangements have been
made for the checking of clothes and the care of private
balls. • This department is in charge of:
Leo R. Johns, Manager.
Mrs. E. M. Green, Ladies' Floor.
James T. Shillady, League Manager.
Not satisfied with just an unusual establishment of this character, we
have engaged, at a considerable expense, the exclusive services of
Ora Morningstar, one of the world's greatest Billiard artists, former
World Champion.
With Mr. Clarence Jackson, who needs no introduction to Detroit,
Mr. Morningstar will give daily exhibitions in the Billiard Theatre,
and will also be on hand to offer helpful suggestions to our patrons.
The Recreation Building offers exceptional advantages for year 'round
recreation and we feel confident that with its unusual equipment and
service, and its club-like tone, you and your friends will appreciate
and make use of it as your Down-Town Club.
