The building is constructed of steel
and brick ∎ vith artistic stone trim-
mings. complete heating plant has
been installed and no expense has
been spared for the comfort of the
tenants. The cost of the structure
represents an outlay of over $1,000,-
1)00. Mr. Samuel Levey is associated
with Mr. Smilansky in its ownership.
The well-known architect, Mr. Fred
Swirsky, personally ,worked out every
detail, and at its completion will be a
monument to his energy, skill and
professional proficiency. The Cad-
illac Realty Co., with offices in the
Chamber of Commerce Building, is in
charge of the rental of the facilities
in the building.
The Lincoln Square Building is as-
sured of immediate success if the
many requests for accommodations
now pouring in are a criterion of the
demand when the structure is formal-
ly opened. It will enhance the value
of the west side district in which it is
.located. In this district will be clus-
mathet
tered the entire social, amusement
and commercial life of the west side,
which is destined to out-rival De-
troit's famous Highland Park section.
In the vicinity are many thriving in-
dustrial establishments, employing
more than 50,000 skilled workmen.,
the greater number of whom reside
in the vicinity of the new community
center.
Ground for the building was broken
on May 10th of this year, and the
formal opening is scheduled for De-
cember 1, at which time it is hoped
it xvill be entirely completed and ready
for inspection by an appreciative pub-
lic, who will undoubtedly marvel at
the stupendity of the project and won-
der "what next." Mr. Smilansky and
his associates are even now receiving
congratulations from builders, archi-
tects and other interested individuals
from all over the country. Before
long many other similar structures
will be erected ill other metropolitan
centers.
