Detroit's newest synagogue now being
erected by Congregation "El Mosha"
at Twenty-ninth street, near Michigan
avenue, will be completed and ready for
the holding of services on Rosh Hasho-
nah. This announcement was made by
Mr. R. Zwieback, secretary of the
' Building Committee, at a reception ten-
dered to the members of the congrega-
- tion last Tuesday evening by Mr. Harry
' Cohn, one of the most prominent mem-
,, yrs.
` The reception, featured by a lunch-
eon, took on the form of a celebration
of the remarkable success achieved so
far in the progress of the congregation.
The cornerstone of the new synagogue
was laid On Sunday, August 5, and
aroused great public interest owing to
the fact that "El Mosha" is the first
Jewish house of Worship to be erected on
the \Vest Side. It will be an imposing
structure well befitting this distinction,
its total cost representing an outlay of
$50,000.
The great interest taken in the new
congregation by non-members is re-
flected in the contributions that have

poured in for the building fund. A
sum of over Poo has been donated by
non-members, some of whom are resi-
dents of other cities. Approximately
$3000 was contributed to the building
fund at the cornerstone laying cere-
monies. Much of this is the result of
the auctioning off of individual stones
for the archway of the main entrance.
Great credit for obtaining this amount
is given to Mr. Harry Price, who act-
ed as auctioneer on behalf of the con-
gregation. Mr. Price, although not a
member of the congregation, very gra-
ciously tendered his services to his
friends among the membership, who
evidenced their gratitude to him for his
unselfish devotion in a most expressive
ovation.
The members were united in their
tribute to Mr. Harry Cohn, whose in-
tence interest and desire for a house of
worship ill his community was an in-
spiration to every other worker, and
whose sincere devotion to Congrega-
tion "El Mosha" was recognized in the
granting of the honor of laying the
cornerstone of the synagogue. Mr
