London.—The war office has' decided
to organize a Jewish division of bri-
gade, and the work will be undertaken
by Lieut.-Col. J. H. Patterson, D. S. 0.,
an Irishman. It has been estimated that

there are 40,000 Jews in the British
army, including 8,000 colonials. About
30,000 are on foreign service.
It is intended to employ the Jewish
force in Palestine, and their religious
convictions will be considered in every
way. They will have their own cooks
and bakers, and the dietary 'will be in
conformity with Jewish ideals.-
