An interesting event of the past week occurred on Sunday, Aug.
5, when Miss Lillian Ruth Shapiro, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. M.
Shapiro, of 145 Medbury avenue, and Mr. Jack Stiglitz were united in
marriage. Rabbi A. M. Hershman officiated. Miss Shapiro wore a
gown of white satin and tulle and carried a shower of roses and valley
lilies. Attending her were her sister, Mrs. Edward Alpern, as matron
of honor, and the Misses .Minnie Swerling, Freda Wechsler and Alta
Needle as bridesmaids Mr. Harry Stiglitz assisted his brother as
best man, and little Melba Wechsler and Harland Alpern carried the
ring in a charming basket of pink sweet peas. Following the cere-
mony a dinner was served to one hundred guests in the garden of the
home. Among the out-of-town guests were Mr. and Mrs. Joseph
Stiglitz, of Mt. Clemens, Mr. and Mrs. A. Wechsler and children,
Freda, Sylva and Melba, of Pittsburgh ; Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Needle
and children, Olga and Maurice, of Olyphant, Pa. ; Mr. and Mrs. Louis
Harris of Wampum, Pa., and Miss Minnie Swerkling, of Tarentum, Pa.

ing and Mr. Avery Ginsburg act-
