Mrs. Rose Weinberg of Prescott,
Mich., announces the engagement
of her daughter Hannah, to Mr.
Reuben Simon, son of Mr. and
Mrs. M. Simon of 227 East War-
ren avenue.
Mr. and Mrs. R. Schooler and
children of 115 Woodland avenue,
have just returned from a three
weeks' motor trip through the states
of Michigan, Ohio, Indiana and Il-
linois, stopping at points of inter-
est in each state. Other members
of the party included Mrs. J. Si-
mons, mother of Mrs. Schooler,
and her cousin, Miss Jeannette
Cohen, formerly of Bridgeport,
Conn.
Mr. Morris G. Phlaum of In-
dianapolis was in the city during
the past week to attend the funeral
of Mrs. Sophia Rothschild.

of New Orleans have been the
guests of Rabbi Leipsiger's mother
N. for several weeks.
Mrs. Benjamin Weiner of Flint
is in the city.
Dr.. and Mrs. J. S. Lipsky and
son have returned from the east,
where they were the guests of Mrs.
Lipsky's parents, Mr. and Mrs. M.
Snyder.
Mr. S. Cohen of Lincoln avenue
has left for a motor trip to Chicago
to be the guest of his daughter,
Mrs. D. Selker. Master Daniel
Cohen accompanied his father.
Mrs. Sol Oppenheimer and
daughter Ruth, of Rhode Island
avenue are visiting in Alpena.
Mrs. Jacob Herstein, Miss Helen
Herstein and Master Marcus Her-
stein are spending a few weeks at
ttawa Beach.
Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Ackerman
have returned from Chicago, where
they attended the Moving Picture
convention.
- Mr. and Mrs. H. Friedenberg of
Burlingame avenue have left for a
visit in Baltimore, Atlantic City,
New York and Hartford.
Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Ackerman
and family, formerly of 1051 Mel-
drum avenue, are now residing at
124 Hendrie avenue.
Mrs. R. G. Slayer, formerly of
232 Montcalm street, has moved to
204 Palmer avenue east.
Funeral services for Louis A.
Brown took place from his resi-
dence, 151 Putnam avenue, on Fri-
day afternoon, Rabbi Franklin of-
ficiating. Mr. Brown is survived
by his father, Mr. Daniel Brown, a
sister, Miss Gertrude, and three
brothers, Charles, Morris and Fred-
erick Brown.
Mrs. A. De Sola Mendes and
daughter Cora, of Brunswick, Ga.,
spent a•few days in the city as the
guests of Mr. Sol Mincer. Mr.
Mincer accompanied them to Chi-
cago.
Miss Ray King of Washington
is the guest of Mrs. J. J. Snyder.

Miss Mary Cousins has returned
to her home in Toledo after a visit
with Miss Ida Diamond. Miss Dia-
mond accompanied her home.
Miss Sylvia Wolenburgh is
spending the summer at Manitou
Springs.
Mr. and Mrs. Louis Simon and
son Harold, and Mr. and Mrs.
Clifford Jacobs of McLean have re-
turned from a two weeks' stay at
the St. Clair Flats.
Mr. Stanley I. Rypins of St.
Paul, Minn., was the guest of his
aunt and uncle, Rabbi and Mrg.
Leo M. Franklin, for a few hours
last Friday. Mr. Rypins was en
route home from England, where
for the past three years he has been
a Rhodes scholar at Oxford Uni-
versity. Rabbi I. L. Rypins, who
met his son in New York, accom-
panied him home.
The Misses Marcusen of Cincin-
nati were guests in the city last
week. .
Rabbi Franklin was called to
Kalamazoo on Wednesday of last
week to officiate at the burial of
Mr. Lesser Solomon, whose death
occurred suddenly at Charlevoix
last Tuesday. Dr. and Mrs. Davi
Levy and Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Gold-
berg of Detroit were in Kalamazoo
to attend the funeral.
Mr. and Mrs. Julian H. Krolik
