OF HARPER HOSPITAL UNIT.

Cleveland, 0.—Miss Bessie Span-

of the Council of Jewish Women, left
with the Harper Hospital Unit, of De-

continent. Miss Spanner is the only
Jewish nurse from this city at present

manifestation of her patriotism and
Judaism.
Miss Spanner has done excellent
work in pre-natal service for the
Cciuncil, and while much regret is felt
that she is leaving this sphere of ac-
tivity, she is worthy of the highest
commendation for her great sacrifice
in behalf .of her country and her re-
ligion.

JEWISH WOMEN OF DETROIT
TO AID CAMPAIGN FOR
FOOD CONSERVATION.
The Jewish women of Detroit will re-
spond to the call for national conserva-
tion next week, when an opportunity
will be furnished them to pledge their
aid in economizing and standardizing the
food situation in their individual kitch-
ens. A committee of Jewish women has
been formed to push the campaign
among women of their own faith. Miss
Miriam D. Goldman, who is a member
of the Executive Board of the Michigan
Women's Council of National Defense,
is chairman of the local Jewish commit-
tee sponsored by the Jewish Woman's
Club of Detroit. Mrs. Monroe Rosen-
