York, to Give Concert on July
15th at Detroit Arena.
Of unusual interest to musical lovers
of Detroit, and to the Jewish people in
particular, is the announcement of Mr.
M. H. Hanson, the well-known Ncw
York manager of concert stars, that
the famous Rev. Josef Rosenblatt, the
world-famed cantor of the Congrega-
tion Ohab-Zedek, of Ncw York, will
deliver a concert in Detroit on Sunday,
July 15th, at the Detroit Arena.

KALMAN GITTLEMAN.

In the death of Kalman Gittleman,
the Jewish community of Detroit suf-
fered the loss of one of its most active
and loved communal workers, and the
city lost one of its most respected and
honored citizens. M r. Gittleman died
on Tuesday afternoon at his home, 211
irby Street. 1 1 e succumbed to an
attack of heart disease. He was 65
years of age.
Mr. Gittleman was one of the foun-
ders of the Mogan Abraham Syna-
gogue and the Circle of Friends, a
charitable organization. His charitable
activities, however, were not confined
to institutions. Mr. Gittleman was
Well known as a man who made it his
business to seek out individual cases
for personal relief. His kindness was
the helping force that lifted many a
poor man out of the depths of poverty
and despair. He was a source of in-
spiration and companionship to a
legion of friends who mourn his pass-
ing.
The funeral services were conducted
at the Gittleman residence on Wednes-
day afternoon, Rabbi A. M. Hershman
officiating, assisted by Rev. R. Spalter
and Cantor Bass. Interment was at
Machpelith cemetery. Besides his
widow, Mrs. Sarah Gittleman, he is
survived by one daughter, Miss Hat-
tie, and five sons, Sol, Albert, Hyman,
Aubrey and Morton, all of Detroit, the
latter a member of the Harper base
hospital unit.

perhaps the oldest active banker in
the world, will celebrate his 95th
birthday Sunday at his residence,

Although he ceased being an officer
of the bank he founded—Greenebaum
Sons Bank & Trust Company—in
1911, when it was incorporated as a.
state institution, Mr. Greenebaum ap-
pears at the bank regularly at 8:30
