conservative and practical bathing suits
of dark colored silk or satin upon the
ordinary lines and some of these are
good looking. But for the woman who
wants individuality in her bathing cos-
tunle there are other things.
Last season a rather amazing garb
evolved had piquant and attractive feat-
ures, but was a bit too spectacular for
folk of conservative tastes. This year
the same designer was responsible for
the picturesque models which are such
an improvement over those of 1916.
Tussors, tub Satin, washable 'Taffetas
and Sicilians are represented especially
among the beach costumes. For some
of the best models Jersey is often
chosen, the finest, softest, loveliest of
Wool Jersey with many a gay color
note introduced in their details. Of-
ten Satin or Silk is combined with
the Jersey and the color combinations
are more conspicuous, but not too
much so. Models are original and
chic without being too freakish for
good taste.
The Jersey Suits which B. Siegel Co.
are showing are by far the favorite for
practical use, being light in weight, elas-
tic, easily dried, so friendly to dyestuffs
• that they can be had in exceptionally
good color tones. These bathing suits,
consisting of trunk and skirted blouse,
are easy and comfortable, allowing utter
freedom of movement and can be used
as one proposes. Either for actual
swimming or mere splashing and beach
