THE

DETROIT

MUNSON SUPPLY CO. OFFERS
10 PER CENT OF SALES.

The Detroit representative of the
Munson Supply Co : , manufacturers
of pneumatic typewriter keys, offered
to give 10 per cent of the total
amount of sales obtained through the
advertisement in this week's issue of
the Jewish Chronicle. No matter
how much may be given, this is a
very generous and hearty offer and
is deserving of the utmost commen-
dation.

ARTISTIC ADVERTISING
MATTER.

The Tullar Envelope company, 39
to 43 Congress street west, makes a
specialty of envelopes for advertising
purposes, which are supplied to the
printers having contracts for the
work. There has been such a great
increase in the demand that from
time to time equipment has been add-
ed to the plant which now is turning
out 300,000 envelopes a day.
Advertising sent from Detroit is
considered among the best and most
artistic in the land and the Tullar
envelopes which enclose so much of
it come in for their share of com-
mendation.

SOME PERTINENT FACTS OF
DETROIT'S GROWTH.

Detroit is growing - no matter from
what angle the health of the city is
viewed. Bank clearings are a good
index of what is doing and this in
April showed a gain of $67,420,508
over the same month of last year, and
$2,633,873 over March, which was a
bumper month.
Building permits numbered 1,914,
of which 1,500 were for new struc-
tures, a gain of 297 over April, 1916,
the aggregate amount being $5,284,705
against $3,813,370.
Postal receipts were $344,342, a
gain of $16,993. Suppose the two-
cent stamp be taken as the basis—
Detroit sent out more than 17,000,000
letters.

internal revenue figures are of mo-
ment. The April lousiness of $952,-
500 was a gain of $308,981 over March
and of $308,536 over April of last
year. Detroit is one of the leading
cigar makers of the nation when
times and conditions are normal, and
the resumption of work at the big
cigar factories is the reason of the
great gain. Labor troubles crippled
this industry for a period of months,
but many of the factories are work-
ing full tilt and sending their
"smokes" broadcast over the coun-
try.
New incorporations in April mini-
hered 01, a gain of 7 over March.
Their capital runs into the millions.
Detroit is doing its bit for the na-
tion in the days of the crisis, also it
is taking good care of itself.
