RABBI ABBA HILLEL SILVER
CLEVELAND, 0. — Rabbi Abba
Hillel Silver will succeed Rabbi Moses
J Gries as the spiritual leader of
Temple Tifereth Israel. It was so de-
cided at the sixty-seventh annual
meeting on Sunday night, in the Tem-
ple auditorium, when, after the report
of President Benjamin Lowenstein
and the recommendation by the com-
mittee and trustees, the large congre-
gation voted for him unanimously.
Rabbi Silver is a graduate of the He-
brew Union College and the Univer-
sity of Cincinnati. Immediately fol-
lowing his graduation, he accepted a
call to Eoff Street Temple, Congrega-
tion Leshem Shomayim, Wheeling,
W. Va., where Ile has officiated with
marked success ever since. He is
twenty-six years of age, unmarried
and a native of New York City. In

as a general all around worker and
organizer, scholar and orator.
Rabbi Cries will leave the pulpit of
the Temple and the ministry at the
close of the confirmation services on
Sunday, May 27, Shavuoth. The Tem-
