To enumerate the well-handled scenes and the admirably portrayed char- acters would be simply to give a list of the incidents and people in the book. . . . A story of distinction . . . well worth attention." Of Exceptional Quality. Boston Transcript:—"A novel of excep- tional quality. It brings to life a little- studied aspect of our civilization. Philip Graetz, in his contrast with the thorough- ly utilitarian and ultra-practical David Gor- don, is a fine type of honesty and loyalty." John V. Phone Cherry 2901 When the stock of any automobile manufacturer, well managed and conservatively financed, is quoted at a figure AS LOW AS PAR, these shares are surely worth your investigation. For such a quotation suggests only two possibili- ties. Either the stock has been depreciated by the exist- ence of preferred stock, bonds or other indebtedness. Or the enterprise is in the development stage, and its stock has not yet felt the upward surge that follows dividend declarations. It is the latter condition which prevails in the case of Harroun Motors stock. To that fact alone is due your ability to buy this stock today at so low a rate as $9 a share of $10 par value. Here is a company whose common stock is positively its one security obligation. There is no Harroun pre- ferred stock, no Harroun Bond issue, no Harroun funded debt. The Harroun Motors Cor- poration does not even owe for a single dollar of bor- rowed money Its financial slate is abso- lutely clean of all security obligation except the one it owes to those who have bought its stock. CLASSIFIED ADVERTISE- MENTS. THE CHOSEN PEOPLE A GREAT BUY AT $9 with a profitable practice of a most conservative character and a promi- nent advocate of legislative reforms to relieve the condition of the poor before his first book, "The Conquest," was published. It dealt with social conditions of an ultra-modern indus- trial society and received instant rec- ognition. Mr. Nyburg's latest book, "The Chosen People," places him in the front rank of American novelists. It has been selected by H. W. Boyn- ton, the noted critic, as one of "the outstanding novels of the season" in his review in the New York Nation. "The Chosen People" is being dis- cussed and commented upon in re- views in the best literary papers, in the Jewish press, and in the Jewish pulpit. It is a novel of the Jews in America and strikes a note unheard of in American fiction. It deals with the activities of a brilliant young rabbi of a fashionable temple in Baltimore who attempts to awaken his congre- gation to an appreciation of the spir- itual. Mr. Nyburg very cleverly por- trays the feminine, worshipful and proud element that threatens to engulf the idealistic rabbi in the same smug viewpoint of his congregation. The rabbi takes an active part in strike of clothing workers, most of whom are Russian Jews. He comes thereby in conflict with members of his own congregation who own the shops. His attempt to reconcile the capitalists with the teachings of brotherhood and union is most interesting. A pleasing love theme runs through the story. The publishers of the book, J. B. Lippincott Co., Philadelphia, an- nounce that "The Chosen People" is one of their "best sellers" of the year. Critics are in accord in predicting a notable career to the young Jewish novelist. The convention of the Middle Atlan- tic States Federation of Young Men's Hebrew Association will meet in Wash- ington Sept. 2 and 3. What can you expect from your investment in Harroun stock? It is a fair question—a question for which you your- self can easily deduce an an- swer based on the history of this security. First marketed at $5, Octo- ber 1 of last year, this stock advanced to $5.50 in 30 days, as the result of the acquire- ment of its first factories and real estate. In 22 days more Harroun stock advanced to $6, fol- lowing the breaking of ground for the new factories, under the terms of a highly advantageous building con- tract. 14, caused the fourth ad- vance, to $8. Their equipment was fol- lowed, April 18, by an ad- vance to the present price of $9 a share. A Record-Breaker Five advances in six months! None of them arbitrary but each with a definite and thor- oughly solid foundation of added value in each share of stock! That is the Harroun Motors record—a record un- equaled, we believe, by that of any other industrial secur- ity at a similar stage. That this added value was always present is fully proven by the fact that, at each quotation the public bought an increased amount of this security, by far the greatest subscription being that accorded it at the 3t8 price prevailing from March 14 to April 18. Future Advances How high will Harroun stock go before it reaches its normal level?. Only time can answer your question—time AND DIVI- DENDS.
