THE JEWISH CHRONICLE
12
On Friday evening, April 20, Beta
Chapter of Phi Sigma Epsilon held
the first of a series of dancing par-
ties at the Tuller Hotel. About fifty
couples were present, and the guests
wL:e at all times busy on the dance
floor, whirling to the strains to such
music as has been but rarely heard
at events of that kind. The fra-
ternity colors were everywhere in evi-
dence and a huge electric emblem
lighted, lent a spectacular effect to
the ballroom. The patronesses in-
cluded Mrs. A. M. Lipsitz, Mrs. Jos.
Sillman, Mrs. Chas. Hopp, Mrs. Lewis
Golden, Mrs. David Blumenthal, Mrs.
A. Jacob, Mrs. E. H. Sloman, Mrs.
S. Aronheim, Mrs. I. L. Scheinman,
Mrs. Philip Meyers, Mrs. Halperin
and Mrs. A. Wohl.
Mr. Jesse Grabowsky, son of Mr.
and Mrs. I. Grabowsky, 686 Brush
boulevard, returned from New York
city to join the colors with the Michi-
gan Naval Brigade, in which he has
been enrolled for the past year and a
half. Mr. Grabowsky is a petty of-
ficer in the Third division, First Bat-
talion.
The next regular meeting of the
Delta Phi Sorority will be held on
Monday evening, April 23, at the
home of Mrs. Delis Horowitz, 558

ENGAGEMENTS.
THE LIBERAL INTERPRETA-
TION OF WOMEN'S FASH-
IONS AS A FINE ART.
There was a time when women fol-
lowed the arbitrary edicts of fashion .
at any cost. Its pedantism and dog-
matism robbed women of individual
expression in matters of dress; it de-
stroyed the chance of the natural and
the simple effects; it lacked sincere
originality and did not know of any-
thing but a slavish flexibility to the
prescribed ethics of dress.
The new school of the present day,
of which B. Siegel Co. are recognized
leaders, proclaims a (lay of types; it
is professedly idealistic. Today women
of fashion must give the personal
touch the expression of their person-
ality, to her tailleur, her gown, her
wrap, her hats and boots. Uniform-
ity and cot monplaceness are avoided.
It is to the modern woman of fash-
ion—to women who appreciate orig-
inality, exclusiveness, refinement and
an avoidance of the many vagaries
committed in the name of fashion, to
whom this establishment is dedicated.
It is an inspiration to walk through
this store now—to survey the new
fashions; to sec how full and bril-
liant is the showing; how much there
is of exclusiveness, how surprising
are the values, but the chief thing, as
we regard it, is not how much busi-
ness we can roll up tomorrow, but
how will you feel about the B. Siegel
Co. Store when you compare what
you bought here with what you might
have bought somewhere else.
It is the satisfactory answering of
scores of similar questions that has
brought here each season a steady in-
crease of business. And B. Siegel Co.'s
merchandise is as sure to answer such
questions satisfactorily now as it ever
was.—Adv.
