Gov. Bamberger:

Y. M. H. A. SEDAR TO BE AN-

NUAL EVENT.

. Sixty Persons Attend First Ceremony.

Was Magnificent Success.

•

The Sedar tendered to young men
strangers in thecity by the Y. M. H. A.
last Friday evening was a magnificent
success in every respect. About 60 per-
sons attended, and the ceremonial feat-
ures were as complete as the well
rounded out menu. The management
regretted that it could not take care of
many more who sought reservations
after arrangements had been completed
for a stated number.
The idea for the Sedar was prompted
by the fact that there are a great num-
ber of Jewish young - men in Detroit
from other cities who have come here
recently to take part in the industrial
life of the city. Many of them are from
orthodox homes in'which the ceremonies
of the holy days are strictly carried out.
The Sedar to these young men means
much to them, and, being without ew-
in the city, the Y. M. H. A.
ish
came to the rescue with its communal
Sedar.
The Sedar this year was so success-
ful that it will now become an annual
event. Next Passover the "Y" expects
to take care of at least• two Hundred.

"I have pledged to give, personally,
one-tenth of total amount Utah•may
raise for Jewish var relief. The Rus-
sian revolution must not fail. By
•
feeding and saving 3,000,000 starving
Jews, we help the new government,
as well as our own people. And in
making Russian deMocracy strong to
withstand German autocracy, we serve
America."
The executive committee of the re-
lief fund expects that similar expres-
sions will come froni men of means in
every community in Ameriea, and
Wopes that communal leaders will not
be slow in emulating- the example of
these splendidly benevolent donors.

CONVERSION METHODS

(Continued from page 4.)

today, would find it extremely con-
fusing and bewildering to embrace
A Christian faith. 'Which Christi-
anity shall it be ? Where will he find
Christianity ? In the Greek Catholic
or in the Roman Catholic church?
Will he find it in the Protestant
churches? Then, which shall it be—
Episcopal, Baptist, Methodist, Pres-
byterian, Congregational, — which?
Nay, the Jew asks where can,
Christianity be found at all?. The
death-blow dealth to 'Peace ;on
earth and good will to men," the;.
violations of the doctrine of Love'
perpetrated. by Christian monarchs' ;
in the war-ridden countries - of Eu-:
rope, and all done in the name of
Peace and Christian Love, are-hor-;
ribIe paradoxes which flount right:

Conversion Begins at Home.
Show us the true, genuin
Christian life. Show tt, 0,
Christians, the spirit of him you ;
call the Christ. We would remind:
the EPIscopalians of today who are
eager and concerned about the wel-
fare of the "lost soul" of the Jew,
of the words uttered by Jesus in
rebuke to such conversion methods.
"Thou hypocrite, first cast out the
beam out of thine own eye ; and
then shalt thou see clearly to cast
the mote out of thy brother's eye."
First convert your preachers ! Teach ,
them to be broad, tolerant, liberal.
Convert Christians to Christianity,
and do not burden yourselves with
ministering to the poor Jew ! Con-
version like charity begins at home.
As for the Jew, he will ever con- .
tinue to adhere to his fait:i because
of the irrefutable character of the
truths of Judiasm ; and because each
and every principle of: his faith is
essential_ to the proper social struc-
ture of mankind. His answer today
to the modern conversion methods,
is the same as - it was in the time
of the Maccabees, and at all times
in his history ; "Who is like Thee
, 0 God ! among the gods !"

WORK ON -BIG OJIBWAY PLANT
IS UNDER WAY.

That the United States Steel Cor-
poration is ready at last, after three
years of careful planning, to go ahead
with the building of its new industrial
city at Ojibway, west of Windsor, is
made apparent by the increased activ-
ity on the site of the proposed steel
mills. The undertaking was such a
vast one that it has required so much
planning that many despaired of ever
seeing much, accomplished, but work
this spring is going forward with such
spirit that . there is no 'longer any
doubt that actual work of mill con-
struction will soon start. All the pre-
liminaries seem at last to have been
• accomplished.
