The 83rd report of the Episcopal
Diocese of Michigan discloses that
an aggressive and vigorous cam-
paign to convert those who are not
of that faith to the Episcopalian
creed is planned. Five hundred
thousand dollars has been raised for
the purpose of establishing twelve
new missions throughout the city,
mainly in that section of . Detroit
known as the East Side.
Enter : Ex-Rabbi Braun
In addition to this dozen new
parishes which will endeavor to lead
the Jew from his two thousand year
convictions an evangelist who goes
by the name of Rev. S. K. Braun
has ambitions in that direction.
Braun, who relates that his father'
was a Jewish Rabbi (they always
are), is a converted Jew. His pho-
tographs show that as regards his
Jewish extraction at least, he tells
the truth. For years, he informs
the indifferent public, he was en-
gaged in business at Philadelphia,
but left commerce for religion. He
does not deny that the latter has
proved more profitable from a pecu-
niary point of view,—which is quite
a reflection upon his commercial

abilities. He has established a Bible
class, for the piirpose of conversion,
at 913 Hastings street. Sometimes
he entices "Mosha" and "Becky" by
"refreshments," after the enjoy-
ment of which the greatly amused
guests depart, not forgetting their
"Shama's" before retiring. Curios-
ity being a characteristic of the Jew,
Braun may properly expect a heavy
attendance at his meetings. But the
prospects of losses to the House of
Israel through the medium of this
miniature "Billy Sunday" (he
thanks us for the subtle. compli-
ment), have caused no great con-
sternation among the leaders of De-
troit Jewry. Neither Temple Beth
El or the Shaarey Zedek Synagogue
have notifiedtheir worthy rabbis of
decreased membership and resultant
lack-pf need for their services.
Rev. S. K. Braun expects to ac-
cumulate considerable money from
the Christians of this community in
this campaign of conversion. We
truly wish him much success, for
those Christians credulous enough
to believe an admitted renegade de-
serVe to pay for the lesson they are
bound to learn. Success to you,
"Rabbi" Braun !!
