Miss Lydia Kahn has been elect-
ed to the office of president of the

Mr. and Mrs. Louis Cohn are
occupying their new home at 149
Farrand Park.
Mr. Henry M. Butzel left on Fri-
day for Omena, where he will join
his family.
Mr. Emanuel G. Frank has re-
turned from a business trip to Phil-
adelphia.
Mr. and Mrs. Leon Rosenfield
have moved to 244 Delaware ave-
nue.
Dr. and Mrs. Leon Adler, who
were in the city last week, have re-
turned to their home in New York.
Among the many parties and en-
tertainments given for out of town
visitors during the past week was
that rendered in honor of Mr.
Harry Weisberger of South Bend,
Ind., by his cousin, Miss Helen
Weisberger of this city. A large
number of friends were invited,
among whom were many members
of the Young People's Auxiliary of
the Hebrew Hospital. Amidst laugh-
ter, song and music, the hours flew
fast and all present were sorry in-
deed that the time of departure had
arrived in the wee small hours of
the morning. It was the consensus
of opinion of all guests that Miss
Weisberger could have their pres-
ence for the asking, for she made
a splendid hostess and her cooking
was unexcelled.
The Misses Elizabeth Price, Min-
nie Silverman and Leona \Terrier
and Messrs. Mayer Grosberg, B.
Silverman and P. Duncan of this
city will be the guests of Miss
Cooper and Mr. Rosenstein of
Cleveland, who are giving an en-
gagement dinner to the Detroiters
on Sunday, July 2.
Mrs. Joseph Levy of Dayton and
Mrs. M. DeSola of New York were
among the out-of-town guests who
attended the twenty-fifth wedding
anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Mil-
ton Sloman.
A pretty entertainment for the
benefit of the Arnold Home will be
given Saturday evening at the Gan-
apol School of Music. The play is
given entirely by children under the
direction of Mrs Clara Britton.
The monthly meeting of the Grill
Club took place on Tuesday even-
ing at the Phoenix Country Club.
The subject of the evening's discus-
sion was "Preparedness," Mr. Jo-
seph M. Welt presenting a most in-
teresting paper.
Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Simon of
New York spent a few days in the
city last week.
Mr. and Mrs. David Weingarden
of New York were guests in the
city last week.
Rabbi Leo M. Franklin spent the
week-end in Cincinnati.
Mr. Ira Friedenberg left for
Grand Rapids and Chicago on Sun-
day last.
• 'Mrs. Bernard Berg of 157 Henry
avenue gave a card party last Sun-
day afternoon , in honor of her
neice, Miss Rose Mildred Meiner of
New York.
Mr. and Mrs. Joseph M. Welt
gave a theater party followed by a
dinner at the Statler hotel Satur-
day night, in honor of the third an-
niversary of their wedding.
Rabbi Leo M. Franklin of Tem-
ple Beth El, Detroit, has been hon-
ored with an invitation by Presi-
dent Hutchins of the University of
Michigan to march in the Academic
procession with the faculty and
senate of the university at the grad-
uation exercises this week.
Mr. Bernard B. Selling was dis-
tinctly honored by having conferred
upon him the honorary degree of
Doctor of Laws by the University
of Detroit last week. Mr. Selling
is a member of the faculty of that
institution.

Mrs. David Levy has returned
from a visit in Kalamaioo.
The Confirmation Class of Tem-
ple Beth El gave a most enjoyable
party on Friday evening in the Tem-
ple parlors. Several games were
arranged and light refreshments
served.
Mr. and Mrs. I. Goldberg and
daughter Barbara are occupying
their cottage at Charlevoix for the
summer months.
Dr. and Mrs. Irving L. Stein and
daughter Eleanore, who have been
spending two weeks with relatives
in Detroit, have returned to their
home in Chicago. They were ac-
companied by Leo I. Franklin, who
will remain in Chicago for several
weeks.
Miss Madeline Roth of Pitts-
burgh is the guest Of Mrs. Milton
Loeb of Hendrie avenue.
Mr. and Mrs. Gustave Kahn of
Youngstown were in the city to at-
tend the 25th wedding anniversary
of Mr. and Mrs. Milton Sloman.
Mr. and Mrs. Leopold Wineman
were at home on Sunday in honor
of Miss Helen Wineman and Mr.
Harry Farbstein, whose engage-
ment was recently announced.
Mrs. Isaac Lobsitz and daughter
Ethel of Syracuse are the guests of
