Introduces Efficiency Into Office.
A new record for efficiency in
his office has been set by Mr. Harry
J. Dingeman, corporation counsel
for the city of Detroit. Ile is, in
every sense, a self-made man, and
rose to his office by dint of his abil-
ity and perseverance. Mr. Dinge-
man is the son of John F. and Ger-
trude Dingeman.
He began life as an errand boy
for Arthur & Philbrick, photogra-
phers, in 1895. Later he became a
stenographer, and during his leis-
ure hours studied law, graduating
from the Detroit College of Law in
1903. Upon his graduation he be-
came a member of the firm of May
& Dingeman, with which 1w has
been associated since.
Mr. Dingeman is a member of
the Association of the Bar of the
City of Detroit, of the City Coun-
cil, Modern Woodmen of America,
the Lawyers' Club, Theta Lambda
Phi, Detroit College of I.aw Alum-
ni. His office is 623-5 Majestic
building.
The Board of Commerce and the
Jewish Immigrant.
(Con(inurd from page 24)
will show them how to become citi-
zens and how to take out first and
second papers. They point out to
the men that by attending night
schools they will learn the principles
of national, state and city govern-
ment in America. They will learn
how to become intelligent voters in
Detroit, and help settle the affairs
of the community in which they
live. They will learn how to pro-
tect their savings and make safe
investments, and how to conduct
their business affairs and protect
their interests in America. They
Will learn how to make their homes
real American homes. Many of the
men who attekl night schools are
not aware that they can bring their
wives with them, but such is the
case. It is important for women to
learn English in order to deal with
tradesmen and to keep up with their
husbands and their children. It is
pointed out that non-English speak-
ing people will be able to do for
themselves some of the things they
now have to pay others to do for
them.
Shortly after the first of Decem-
ber the Board of Commerce decided
to ask representatives of the various .
races making up the immigrant pop-
ulation of Detroit, to meet with the
committee, giving it the benefit of
their advice as to the proper meth-
ods to reach their own people. Mr.
Jacob G. Brown, vice-president of
the Jewish Charities, is the Jewish
representatiVe.
During the summer it is the hope
of this committee that many of the
manufacturing plants of the city
\yin make a survey which will show
them just how many of their men
are logical pupils for the evening
schools. I f this is done, an attempt
will be made to enroll the men at
the plants of the manufacturing
concerns. I ty this means it is hoped
to greatly increase the attendance
when the schools open next Sep-
tember.
$500,000 Sure Profi
on Investment of
$50,000
As a matter of fact the profit will be over $750,000,
but we would rather be conservative. There is no
gold mine or gold brick about this. It is an absolute
lead pipe cinch—no possible chance under the sun to
do anything but win and win big. The thing we offer
is the beautiful
Emmons Farm
Three htindred acres lying between Fort Street and the
Detroit River. Detroit wanted this for a park, but the Board
of Estimates cut it out and they will never have another
chance,. which is a calamity for Detroit. It will be made into
a Grand West Side Indian Village Subdivision, with high
restrictions. Makes 2,000 large lots. Will retail for $2,000,000.
Price $450,000, and only $50,000 down, see

Plenty of Strength
not a needless pound
Athletes train down until they are all
muscle. They eliminate the handicap of
needless weight.
Saxon "Six" is an athlete among motor cars.
It exemplifies the modern idea of light weight.
It doesn't carry a needless pound—but yet it
has all the weight that is necessary for
strength and safety.
Right design and right materials make Saxon
"Six" the sturdy light weight car it is. Nickel
steel in axles and steering gear, vanadium
steel in springs and high grade metals every-
where replace the common materials—with
an increase in strength and a saving in weight.
Light weight in the car means economy in
tires, in gasoline, in repair costs. We urge
you to ride in this light weight powerful "Six."
Six-cylinder high-speed motor, 30-35 h. p.; yacht-

Varnished floors should
not only look fine, they
should be durable and
retain their lustre even
where the wear is severe.
Liquid Granite

glossy under the hardest conditions of use.
The mar-proof and wear-resisting proper-
ties of this wonderful varnish qualify it not
only for floors but for all interior work
where great durability is desired. It is es-
pecially desirable for bath rooms, window
sills and casings, baseboards, balustrades,
oilcloth and linoleum, etc.
It makes a smooth, handsome lustre and is
no trouble to keep in perfect condition.
