Prominent Men Address Michigan
Menorah Society.

The enorah Society of the Vni-
versity of NI ichigan, a student's or-
ganization devoted to the study of
Jewish culture and the promotion of
Jewish ideals, has been very fortu-
nate in having men of national note
address its meetings.
On April 30th, Nit. Isaac Lipson,
a prominent attorney of Chicago
and an alumnus of the university,
spoke on "A Jew Getting Set." On
NI ay 7th, the society had the pleas-
ure of listening to Dr. Max. L. Mar-
golis of Dropsie College, who spoke
on "The New Translation of the
Bible," of which he is the editor.
The last speaker of the year was
Mr. Samuel L. Strauss of New
York. Mr. Strauss was formerly
publisher of the New York Globe
and was later connected with the
management of the New York
Times. His topic was "The Jew
and the War."
At its next meting, the Menorah
society will elect its officers for the
coming year.

The problem is solved !

with suitable prizes.
The society, during the four
years of its existence, has estab-
lished an enviable reputation in the
community for charity and benevo-
lence, especially among the poor and
needy sick. The necessity of keep-
ing up this work is apparent, and
it is to raise additional funds to en-
able the society to carry on its work
that the excursion haS been planned.
It is hoped that the Jewish com-
munity of Detroit will endorse the
work of the club by helping make
the outing a success. Further an-
nouncements will be made through
these columns.
