Blood Accusation Renewed

In Petrograd also there was all
attempt to renew the same accusa-
tion against Jews. A woman, who
looked like a JCWCSS, was Seell in
the streets carrying a Christian
child in her arms. The report wa
immediately spread that a Jewish
woman had kidnapped a Christian
child in order to obtain from it
blood for the Passover. Crowds as-
sembled and the Jew's were in great
danger. The police, however, dis-
persed the crowds and after the
woman was found and examined it
was established that she was a
Christian woman, although she had
the appearance of a Jewess.

The blood accusation against the
Jews has been revived now with the
approach of the Passover holiday.
In Novoselie, a town near Petro-
grad, a Christian mid-wife acci-
dentally choked to death a newly-
born baby, and in order to exoner-
ate herself, raised the cry that a
Jew killed the child for the purpose
of extracting its blood for ritual
purposes. A Jew by the name of
Koplowitch was accused and was
immediately placed under arrest.
Meanwhile rumors were spread that
the same Jew had made several at-
tempts to purchase Christian chil-
dren and was ready to pay 100
rubles for each. The police then
opened the grave of the murdered
babe and a famous professor was
brought over to examine it. The
