Shaarey Zedek A Man and His Wife Took a Mortgage on Their Home and arranged to make their payments at the German-American Bank and then adapted a novel means of paving it off. The weekly sermon will be de- livered by Rabbi A. M. Hersh-. man at the Sabbath services at the Synagogue on Saturday, March 18. The services will com- mence sharply at 9:00 a. m. As a result of the vigorous campaign carried on by the Mem- bership Committee, the attend- ance at the meetings of the Men's Club of Shaarey Zedek has more than doubled. A pleasing climax was reached last Sunday, when over 40 jewish men assembled to listen to the excellent program and to participate in the general discussion w hi ch fo ll owe d . D r. Baruch delivered a very instruc- tive address, and Mr. Leo TT. Tioffman, of Chicago, spoke in an enlightening and comprehensive manner about' the purposes and :objects of the Jewish Congress. The officers of the club express the sincere hope that Jewish men the city over, will . avail themselves of the invitation which is hereb y offered them to visit the meetings of the organi- zation every Sunday at 11:15 a. They will be sure to find that the hour which the meetings tast will have been very enjoyably and profitably spent. One of the younger organiza- tions of the Shaarey Zedek. but one which by its aggressive work is worthy' of mention, is the Shaarey Zedek Juniors. Formed and organized largely through the efforts of Mr. J. Nathan, the club is rapidly progressing in de- bating and physical training, the two activities to the fostering of which the club stands pledged. They deposited one dollar and took one of our small, individual banks home with them. When their last payment on the mortgage was paid, the man told us that they never could have done it had it not been for that little bank. It had acted as a constant spur to save every nickel. So successful was it that they never missed a pay- . ment. You may not have a mortgage to clean up, but you can build up .a fine bank account by the same method. If you can't come in person, open an account by mail.
