and decided by the society.

that the dance and ball which it

cided success. The affair was
held on Saturday evening, March
11, and a large and representa-
tive gathering Idled Schreiber's
hall to dance to the delightful
strains of the orchestra.

Fenner flimated a beau-
tifully embroidered pillow, and
N. Schwarz contributed a cake
which \\ as a masterpiece of
the baker's art. Hit the top of
the cake was a lenorah, sym-
bolic of Jewish light and hope.
lIetween the candlesticks was
poised an angel, pointing to a
tablet bearing the inscription 'I
.\ni for Zion." The sale of the
cake at auction brought by far
the largest sum and was bought
by Nit-. and Mrs. II. Eichner,
who kindly offered it to be re-
auctioned.

Purim Ball.
The arrangement committee of
the Purim Ball given under the
auspices of the Hebrew I.adies'
Aid society • at Burke's Casino
(formerly (lark's Academy) on
Sunday evening, March 19, de-
sire.: to announce that all arrange-
ments have been completed for
one of the most enjoyable and
delightful events of the social
season. The ball, the music fur
which will be furnished by Fin-
zel's orchestra, will be marked by
an abundance of the Purim spirit.
The president of the organiza-
tion, 1\ hrs. II. Klein, in order to
perpetuate the good cheer and
blithesomeness of heart associat-
ed \Vith Purim, asks everyone to

attend the ball. The proceeds
will be devoted to charity.
